The basic design and graphics used in your site will reflect your “brand” and the image you want to project. Headers, backgrounds, photos, illustrations, icons, colors…all are important and can make a difference in how you are perceived.  If you’d like to extend your web presence to other marketing collateral, Andi can also help with business cards, letterhead, ads, brochures, and posters.

A great logo instantly gives others a sense of your business and its “personality.” It’s also clean and simple enough to be easily reproduced in color or black-and-white, at different sizes, on all your marketing collateral. Andi can design a great logo for you, incorporate it into your website design, and give it to you as a file so you can use it on letterhead, business cards, emails, and other marketing materials (T-shirts, anyone?).

We’ll work with photos in any format you provide–we can even scan your hard copies–and get them ready for the Web. This includes cropping, resizing, image optimization, and even recoloring. If they need major work, we recommend brilliant digital retoucher Joe Barna at Colorworks in New York City (no worries if you’re not in NYC…he also works by email).

Video is an exciting way to show you and your products…and is a must for on-camera actors. If you already have video you’d like to use on your website, we can make it Web-friendly and accessible. If you need a reel, we can create one from clips you provide. We can even embed third-party posts (YouTube, Vimeo, etc.) directly into your site–a good solution for larger files.

Web usability studies prove that people read online differently than they read printed materials. We can ehance your existing content to make it more Web-friendly, or we can generate content from your ideas. With more than 20 years’ experience writing and editing across diverse industries (seriously, everything from birdwatching to statistical analysis), Andi can help you communicate clearly. If you’re an actor, we can clean up your resume so that it reflects current industry standards and shows you in the best possible light.

All AndiSites are built so that search engines can find them more easily. Of course we add “meta tags” that include your name, keywords, etc., but considering that engines such as Google no longer focus exclusively on those tags, we go many steps further. We make sure that your pages are titled and described correctly in the code, both in the words used and the order of those words (yes, it matters). We make sure that important information is included in preferred positions on your pages. We avoid the use of non-searchable Flash elements. And, most important of all, we design all our sites using Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) so that the code is as “lean” as possible. If you’re not familiar with the concept (and there’s no reason you should be…that’s why we’re here), think of it this way: search engines prefer short pages of code. Using CSS can turn a page with thousands of lines of code into a page with under a hundred lines. Way preferable (and also loads much more quickly).

Many customizable templates are available for purchase online from reputable resellers such as Template Monster. If you find one you like, please let Andi know and she’ll be happy to customize it for you. Keep in mind that these templates aren’t always built for searchability and quick performance; however, they can provide an excellent cost-effective option when custom sites are out of reach.

Already have a site but aren’t sure that it’s as good as it could be? We’ll take a look and make suggestions for improvement–not only in how the public sees it, but “behind the scenes” (coding, filenames, etc.) as well. Check out our website redesign page for more information.
